    SUMMER 2011

Gosh friends, where do I begin?

I guess a 'Welcome back' is in order and a big 'thanks' for visiting our Newsletter Page again.

What a great Spring and Summer we've had so far.  We're excited too because we feel like we haven't seen the best yet.  I'm referring to our 'big event' we've been advertising on our Homepage, Facebook & Kijiji; our first ever TRIXX Band River Boat Cruise!  Of course we're hoping that a lot of you will be able to make it out and that we'll have fantastic weather for this July 29th 'bar night' out on the water.

Speaking of weather, wow have we had some wild downpours this season already!  Those of you that joined us at Lilly Kazzilly's know what I'm talking about.  We had a tortential downpour along with power outages that prevented us from playing on Sat. July 2nd.  We'd like to thank those of you that did come out and for sticking around with us (in the dark and in the parking lot - haha) while we tried to wait it out.  Unfortunately, the transformers in the area blew and power wasn't restored until morning so we didn't get to play at all. Just so you know, we'll be honouring all of your 'Rain checks' :)

This summer brings us a special joy ...

Wedding bells are in the air!!!  We'd like to thank Lori & Larry for having us play at their wedding recently.  What a fantastic night we had and the party was incredibly fun for all! Lori was beautiful and radiant along with her wedding party. Larry was as handsome and dapper as can be!  The speeches were so funny.  We were smiling and having a great time all night long. We played a couple of special request songs just for them and got a chance to be the first band to play in the hall at the new RCL 594 now located on Howard Ave. S.. (By the way, what a great venue that is! It looks wonderful inside and out with plenty of parking).

We're looking forward to sharing a great celebration and evening with Cassie & Brandon soon as they get married at the end of July, 2011.

Best wishes to both couples for a long and happy future together!

In the meantime, you might see us around the city and county during the next couple of weeks as we take in some of the areas great festivals and amenities (and take a little summer vacation ourselves).  We'll be back, tanned, rested and ready to 'roCk the Joe' when we return and hope you can join us there and again on our cruise night and we;ll catch up with things that are new with you.

Have a happy and safe summer everyone - we'll see you again soon!

Your friends in the TRIXX Band
Carole, Don & John

    Spring 2011

Hello friends.  Welcome to our online musings.

As we head into spring this year, we in the TRIXX Band feel very fortunate when reflecting over the past year and especially over the last few months.  I say that because although the economy took a downward turn in 2010 we managed to maintain what we consider routine gigs and a very loyal following.  In harder times, this is not something we take for granted.  I say the last few months in particular because we've been blessed with good fortune to have made debuts with more venues again this year.  We are appreciative and offer our sincere thanks to all of these clubs, venues and of course, our friends for your support of the TRIXX Band.  We continue to look forward to more debuts this year with good times in tow.

Now, our friend PhotomanPat has taken a lot of pictures for us over the past year and slowly but surely, they're making their way into our photo gallery.  This photo below is one that I promised to post (for a while anyway). With Easter decor behind us on the stage at the RCL 143 this month, Pat was determined that he could 'capture' a bunny.  Well here's the photo.

(There Pat I did it. You certainly found something .... it may not be a bunny but it was the right angle at the right time.  Haha!)
2011April/Easterbunny.jpg
Welcome spring and Happy Easter to everyone!

We hope to see you again soon,
Carole, Don and John

   Winter News 2010

Believe it or not, it's New Year's Eve as I right this and on behalf of the band, I just want to say how grateful we are for your lasting friendship and support throughout 2010.  We've played a couple of new clubs (Rhythmz & Tops), and you kindly followed us there.  We just can't tell you enough how much in means to all of us to see your friendly faces in the crowd as well as always having your help to get the party started, 'TRIXX style'.  Thank YOU!

R
ecently we posted this phrase on our home page, "Greetings Friends and Family. Its that time again, we've packed up our sleigh and we're on our way as the fun continues for a festive December".  Well let me just say that we've enjoyed having you along with us for this wonderful wintery ride. We started by celebrating band birthdays and continued a fantastic month with more celebrations and good times that wouldn't have happened without you.

This new year promises to be just as exciting.  We're looking forward to more new stops especially at Lilly Kazzily's and The Franchise Grille Lounge.  We're hoping that you'll make these venues your new favourite places to gather with friends and the TRIXX Band.

What's most important for us to say right now is that, no matter where you are tonight, we'll be thinking of you and hoping that you have a great New Year's Eve along with all our Best Wishes for 2011 too!

With Love and Friendship
Carole, Don & John

Spring 2010 (That's the Way, uh huh)

'Say Hey,' Everybody!  Welcome Spingtime and this new TRIXX Band welcomes you back here on-line too.  Yippee!  Ah, don't you just love it!  Hasn't the weather been just fantastic these last couple of weeks?  Soak it in folks.  What a way to kick start the season.  I hear a trip to the Zoo and the a walk on the links beckoning my name!
...
Well?  Have you met our newest bandmate yet?  Walter (keyboard/vocal), started with us mid February and has been a great addition to the band.  Now that we're settling in and finding our way, we've finally started to add some new material to our repertoire.  It's exciting to be in this learning mode again.  It's even more exciting to have another vocalist in the band.  It can only compliment our diversity as singers.  And if that doesn't beat all, our very own and amazing guitar player, Don, has become our new 'resident reggae-style rapper', taking on a new song too.  You said it!  "Dis IS great Man! ... Rockin' in the dancehall, movin' wit chu, I said ... hey Momma, hey Momma, close to you!"  Haha!  We'll be adding songs regularly now so please stop by and check us out again, for the first time!  Make that lots of times!  You'll be guaranteed to have a good time while you're out with us!
...
THERE's BIG NEWS around town too everyone!  Our good friend Colleen from the Knight's of Columbus is opening a new bar (the old K of C/Lauzon Rd.) now called, "Average Joe's".  She and her partners will also maintain the hall, renamed as the 'Riverside Banquet Hall'.  They hope to open at the beginning or mid April and will also feature a new menu and .... and ... bands on weekends!  That is welcome news as there seems to be less and less places that offer LIVE entertainment.  She has given us a personal tour and the place looks absolutely fantastic!  It's completed renovated, exciting and new and certainly fits perfectly into the area close to the WFCU Centre.  Congratulations Colleen and Partners.  We'll look forward to stopping in for a bite and drink soon!
...
BTW, our dear friend JW (John Wood) celebrated his birthday this March and thought he would get away without the usual fanfare that was cast upon him while he was playing with the band.  But no .... our good friend Photoman Pat captured this moment as we got a chance to give him the 'TRIXX Band Birthday Treatment' during his visit with us @ the RCL #143 last weekend.  Only Best Wishes to you John!!! You look maRveLOus!  Please continue to stop by as we'll always look forward to seeing you!  On a side note, you should know John, it's never too late to say Happy Birthday!  I'll get cha every time, whether the camera's ready or not!

So there you have it folks, our news of late.  Thanks for visiting us, whenever you can and where ever we are!  "That's the Way" we like it too!  We hope to see you soon and hear what's news with you!

Til next time,
Carole, Don, John and the new Guy!

Winter 2010 (change is upon us)
...
News as you might have known previously or perhaps just learned from our homepage is that our beloved JW (John Wood) is leaving the band as of Jan. 31, 2010.  That being said, it certainly stirs a lot of emotion from me as I write this entry.
...
I've learned so much from John over the years.  I think he really did a great job not only leading the band, i.e. taking care of bookings etc. but also in leading us into discussions when meetings were necessary, always keeping an even temperament and treating everyone fairly while respecting that each individual brings a uniqueness to the band.  Thank you John.
...
John is a talented as a musician but he is also very talented especially when it comes to midi programing, sequencing and editing.  A self-taught computer whiz, he continued to learn and apply new developments in midi technology to the band.  You could say that he is a lifelong learner.  I myself, am fortunate to have gleened a small inkling of his know-how imparted to me over the last few weeks, getting insight as to how he put all of this together over the years.  Of course, I'll be able to carry on some of the midi work with the help of our band-mates, but JW really has the knowledge and moreover, the background that goes with it.  You can compare it like this ... a lot of students that learn sciences and technology today, learn 'how to' in and by today's standards, but for the sake of time, they're not learning the background knowledge of what it took to get there.  An example of this is a story that JW related to me just last week, saying that, 'hackers can develop complicated computer viruses but don't know how to disable root commands in DOS'.  He's such a smart cookie!  He's retained all that 'old' knowledge himself.  You and I would be boggled by books like DOS for Dummies but JW on the other hand, probably ate it all up!  He's just that smart!
...
Now I know I've got a few favourite memories with John.  One of them is a Halloween Party that we hosted at the Ottawa Tavern years ago.  He didn't dress up by the way but the rest of us did.  That particular year I wore a Catwoman costume.  The mask was an exact copy of the original worn in the movie Batman Returns.  I thought my costume turned out pretty good myself, but you'll have to ask John about it.  That's one story he likes telling - or so I'm reminded over the years - haha!
...
I'm hoping that you'll want to share your favourite memory of John with us on our website.  It doesn't matter what band he was in at the time, or whether you're a musician yourself or just a friend.  What a great tribute this would be to him and his long musical career and a wonderful way for all of us to say 'Farewell dear friend', but not good-bye. Please click here to post a comment.
...
Yes, you're invited to his party!!! Please drop by if you can @ the Royal Canadian Legion Br.#255 this weekend and join in our Send-off Celebration party for John this  Sat. Jan 30/10 - 9pm till 1am
...
On behalf of the TRIXX Band -
Thanks John, we're really gonna miss you!
With Love and Best Wishes,
Your Friends,
Don, John & Carole - xo

FALL 2009 (the winds of change are stirring)
...
News on the home-front?  Now tell me you haven't heard stuff through the grapevine lately?  Well, let's start by settling some rumours.
...
You've probably heard that the Knights of Columbus (Lauzon Rd.) was being sold.  Now you're probably hearing the deal didn't go through after-all but that they are still in fact closing.  To me personally, the fact the sale didn't go through is 'divine intervention'.  Its a chance to save this heritage building, this community gathering place; a chance for partnership or grass roots development and upgrades.  Wow it could be a chance for new life, new plans, new beginnings but alas we shall wait to see what happens to the place we called home in 2009.  The date set for closure is the end of Nov./09  That would mean that its our last gig at the Knights and that we may be the last band to ever play there.
...
TRIXX Band news?  Are changes in the midst?  Yes its true, our leader, John Wood is leaving the band.  This decision to leave the group is his alone.  You may have known that he took ill in June this year.  Like a trouper though, he bounced back and believe it or not, only took one weekend off!  But since then, he's made some new choices about the direction he would like his life to take from here.  I had mentioned earlier that I thought John's last gig with us would be on New Year's Eve 2009 thinking that we'd be ready to introduce our newest TRIXX Band member in January.  We're still working on trying to co-ordinate his debut and John's departure.  Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.  We'll let you know more when we have all these details worked out.
...
Now ... as you know, John founded this band many years ago.  He has agreed unselfishly to let us continue to carry the TRIXX band name.  In saying that, this website will continue as well with all of our sincere thanks to John.  Will there be a fare-well party?  Darn tootin' there will be!  Stay tuned for more on this.
...
Pictures, did anyone say pictures?  First off, thanks to all of you that attended the Knights of Columbus for their annual Hallowe'en Costume Party.  The place was jammed with friends and family!  Colleen, Noelle and staff, thanks for planning and decorating for yet another successful event!  We continue to hear comments from everyone saying that they had a such a great time.  You're the bestest hosts and we love you!!!  Now, secondly, I've got some Hallowe'en pictures that I have permission to post from my zumba friends along with some that Manuel from the Knights of Columbus has shared.  If you've got pictures that you'd like to add to our PHOTO GALLERY please send them to me at   carole@trixx.ca
...
Again friends, its so nice of you stop by here and read what's NEWS.  We've had another wonderful few months together.  I can't tell you how grateful we are that you continue to come out on weekends to listen and dance to LIVE Music.  Even with changes to drinking laws, you still come out and spend your weekends with us.  To all our friends, new and old, we are truly blessed to have you in our TRIXX family!
...
We'll be back home one last time, the last two weeks of November (K of C/Lauzon Rd.).  Hope to see you therePlease visit us again for more TRIXX Band news and updates.

   SUMMER 2009 ( ... still - hurray!!!)

Now tell me I haven't had things to write about.  I can hardly believe that I haven't posted anything since .... yikes!!!!.  Let's just forget about that shall we and move on.  There's lots that's new and news to tell.

First off, let me say that we've been enjoying our stay as 'houseband' at the Knights of Columbus on Lauzon Rd.. What a treat its been to know that we have a home-base, another gig, another place to play and enjoy your company too.  You've also been great, coming out each time we're there to welcome us back!  Thanks so much too to the staff at the K of C your hospitality!

Our most recent gig there was in August.  It was a quiet month but that's to be expected this time of year, what with people vacationing and taking in local festivities as well.  No matter that it wasn't that crowded, the people that attended seemed to have fun!  I know we did!  Haha!  It's true! (PIcs to be posted soon)

While we were there in June our beloved JW fell ill and needed a little time to recoup.  Our friend and colleague Walter Riggi (keyboards/vocals/computer) helped with the gig playing bass lines and fills while JW was away for a weekend.  Let's just say that he (Walter) filled in quite nicely and was incredibly well prepared for such short notice.  It was a pleasure working with him too.  By the end of the weekend he was having so much fun with ya'll that he was getting a little showy playing solos and trills while tilting his keyboard way up and just having a grand time with everyone on the dancefloor!

JW, by the way, is recovering nicely.  He feels great and looks fantastic!  He's even lost a few pounds since he came back.  Nobody knows where they went but he insists he doesn't  want them back.  So if you find 'em - keep 'em ~ haha!!

More news ... You may have heard that the Knights has been sold.  There was a bit of a dilemna with sale proceedings during the city strike but that's all been resolved.  It appears their doors will be closing by the end of November this year. That means that our last gig there will be during Oct., incl. Halloween.  We'll be saying fairwell to the staff and wishing them well in their new endeavours.  Saying that, we hope that you'll please come out and join us to give them a warm and friendly "Good-luck / Send off"

So, now its September .... the weather leading into the long weekend has been fabulous.  We still have warm days and nights, perfect for a day trip, or spending the weekend camping, or enjoying a bbq with family and friends.  No matter what you do, we hope this last long weekend of summer puts a smile on your face - where ever you are.

See you next weekend (11th/12th) @ the RCL #143

Cheers, Carole and the Guys!

WINTER 2009 (Just a few more days til Spring)

Welcome to our new revamped website.  We're pretty excited with the changes we've made.  Some of them are obvious (new design/colours) but more importantly, what you may notice is that the pages load a lot faster.  This alone is fantastic if I do say so myself.

Along with the new design, we've added feedback and contact forms on select pages.  Please browse around and feel free to comment; we'd be pleased if you did.

In the coming weeks, we'll be adding more videos as well.  I feel like a kid with a new toy, just  bubbling over with excitement.  Now you can relive your celebrations and show your family and friends how you celebrated.

This first video is of Tina's recent birthday celebration (Feb./09).  Tina's friend Ron used a pocket camera, recorded the band and then added a montage of photos to music to capture her birthday celebration.  Thanks Tina for celebrating your day with us and thanks to Ron as well for making this video available for all of us to enjoy!

This video can also be viewed on our LOOKS & SOUNDS GREAT page.  More to come soon.  In the meantime enjoy this one, our first video upload!

See you soon Friends,

Much LoveCarole and the TRIXX Band

     WINTER 2008

We're getting set to ring in a new year.  2008 has been such a great year with all of you.  One of the most memorable by far for me in the TRIXX Band.  I could probably say that every year but this year was really special.

Each year has brought a new element of excitement with our celebrations.  Our new songs have had a select group of great friends singing background with us and now we find that we're the ones being entertained by you!  Each night you come out, is a new experience ...  the antics (props - thanks Gale), the spontaneity, (ladies? - yes I'm talking to you D_ _ _ _ Divas), the favour (Pam - running home on Hallowe'en to get my prop, OMGoodness, you are the best *gIrL!) the fun (guest appearances by Zumba with Joel - I'm blessed to have met you!), it just goes on and on.  The close friendships we've made will certainly last for many years to come.

I'm so grateful to JW for the way the band was booked this year tying into holiday celebrations and new club openings.  That being said, I'd like to say 'Welcome back RCL  Br.#143!"  We had such a warm welcome and a great month there.  Many thanks Ken, Dominic, staff & friends.  We're wishing you much success in the New Year.

The clubs were filled to capacity while we celebrated St. Patty's Day and a howling good time on Hallowe'en.  We have lots of pictures, hope you have/had a chance to view them.

So to close this last note ... this 2008 year, I'd like to coin a phrase/a song from a very famous Carol ... "We''re so glad we had this time together, just to have a laugh or sing a song.  Seems we just get started and before you know it ....  comes the time we have to say song long!"

Thanks for another terrific year ....

Merry Christmas Dear Friends.... and all our Best Wishes for the New Year!

Have a safe and peaceful holiday,

With Love .... from your friends in the TRIXX Band!

.............................

Just in case you weren't there, I surprised the boys with a cake to celebrate their birthdays on Friday night.  It was such fun.  And this picture is nothing short of fantastically hilarious!  Thanks guys for providing such a great photo op!

     AUTUMN 2008

Don't you just love this time of year?  - The band is working steady - in the midst of a fabulous and full fall schedule.  Lots of celebrations going on and more to anticipate.

Yes, Halloween will be here before we know it too.  We'll be celebrating on Friday the 31st.  There will be prizes for best costumes.  Come on out join us for a howling good time.

For those who like to 'get up and sing' a song or two, check out the new Karaoke Nights at the KNIGHTS, Wednesday's (with specials on Wings and Pitchers of Beer).

This past weekend at the Knights of Columbus we celebrated birthdays, got reacquainted with old friends (in town for the Herman Highschool Reunion) and celebrated anniversaries too!  We ate cake, baklava, chips/dip and more while celebrating.  Thanks friends for sharing your treats.

We think one of the best news items is that we'll become the 'houseband' at the Knights of Columbus appearing every other month during 2009.  That's really exciting for us and we hope that you'll come 'home' to visit us often.

We're also very anxious to appear at the Royal Canadian Legion/Br. #143's new location on Marentette St., Windsor.  We hear the club looks fantastic with all the new renovations and look forward to playing there this November.

No matter where we are, seeing you, playing for you and dancing the night away is what keeps us all coming together week to week.

Thanks friends for your continued support by bringing your fun celebrations to us for all to enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving!  Carole and Guys

     SUMMER 2008

Can You Believe it?- The band is playing during the summer months!  Sure we'll take a couple of weeks off here and there but you'll see us at a couple of venues around the county.  Starting July on 18th/19th, we'll be appearing at the Grand Central Tavern in Essex for 2 weekends.  Later in August, we'll be at the Club Allouette (Central Ave. Windsor) for 2 weeks starting on the 15th/16 of the month.

Exciting recent news (June 6/08).  Our very own John Labadie attended the Red Wings Victory Parade and later went for a brewsky @ Cheli's Bar.  He had a chance to do what we fans can only dream of and that's to sip some ale out of the coveted STANLEY CUP!  Yes he had his camera at the ready but besides alot of silver, there aren't any images to prove this really happened.  But we believe him!!  Wouldn't you?  If you're a skeptic, check out the pics "Red Wings Victory Parade/Cup Party @ Cheli's" on our PHOTO GALLERY II pages (temporary posting only).

Again, we thank you for continuing to spend your weekends with us.  You've become great friends and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Have a great summer!  God Bless!  Carole, Don and John & Bo

REGRETTABLY   our first ever TRIXX-a-PaLooza @ the Knights of Columbus Hall on Lauzon Rd. featuring Zumba with Joel has been postponed Please see your ticket seller for a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Stayed tuned as we hope to post an alternate date for this event soon.

We'd like to thank everyone who came to visit, dance and celebrate special events with us while we were at the RCL Br. #255.

There certainly was alot going on ... St. Patty's Day was a 3 day Fun Fest with a Sunday matinee perfomance by the band, special appearances by members of the Emerald Isle Dancers (Good luck Olivia at your competition at the World Irish Dancing Competion in Belfast, Ireland!) along with great food, raffles and door prizes offered by the RCL staff and Dominque's Kitchen.

Joel, of ZUMBA with Joel (zumbawindsor.com) came out and worked his ZUMBA dance magic and had us all dancing and strutting on the dancefloor!  Thanks Joel for the smiles and good times!  We're looking forward to seeing you featured at TRIXX-a-PaLooZa on Sat., May 31st, 08!  You're the Best!

There were friends from Playdium Lanes celebrating and fundraising to send their to top bowlers off to Hamilton (Good luck Jim, Gail!)  It was great seeing you guys again!  And the kids, well you're all grown up now (Sean, Drew, Jackie)! LOL!

How about the birthdays ... I wish I could remember them all.  There were a couple of stand outs, for special reasons.  Judy celebrated a milestone birthday with family and friends from New York City, NY and North Carolina (a big surprise) .  What was most memorable was a special appearance by non other than Tina Turner herself!  (Aunt Bev).  She performed Rolling on the River and had all her back up girls in tow (Gale, Ann, Bonnie and Minerva).  Bravo!  Outstanding ladies!  Do you do encores? (pics to be posted soon)

Our friends, Trudy, Diane, Lynn, and Lisa all celebrated their birthdays with us on our last night.  What a way to finish off a great month!  More cake anyone?

Special thanks to Dennis (President) and staff at the RCL #255 for your warm hospitality and thanks again to everyone for making every nite with you a special one.

We're looking forward to seeing you again soon,  Carole and the Guys

     WINTER 2008

New Year's Eve  2007- at the Knights of Columbus - Oh my goodness.  That is what memories are made of.  Most of you know that its been quite a while since the band played a NYE gig.  In fact it would be around '91 or '92 since we last played on NYE.  That being said you can just imagine how much fun we had ... the newness of it all again.  Being with good friends and family, at a great club and the staff - all made for such a great time!  Thanks to all who attended and helped make this such a memorable evening.  We're looking forward to having the same experience with you next year @ the RCL #255 on NYE.

The TRIXX Band

Wishes you - All the Best in 2008!

     FALL/WINTER 2007

November's gig at the RCL #255 is going great.  Seeing some old friends and acquaintances and celebrating special events with them makes for good times all around.  Really, there's nothing finer!  Lots of birthdays and milestones celebrations and even few gags  ... Ollie refurbished an old-fashioned bike for an old(er) friend ... priceless was his expression as he thought his license was being cut up (just a gag)!  Chris celebrating his birthday with family and friends, chiming his new beer mug bell ... compliments of Elaine (neat gift for sure)!  If you were there, we were smiling, laughing and dancing ... and in Cheryl's words, "Oh What Night!"   We even played songs the guys haven't attempted in years which only added to the fun!   Thanks for your requests.  It makes things interesting for sure!

I'll add more as we head into the Christmas Season.  For now, we'll continue looking forward to the weekends when we see you again.

On behalf of the Band, Carole

     SPRING 2007

It's only for a short while .... but we're back!  We'll be playing around town until mid June before we break for our summer siesta!   This May, we're at the Knights of Columbus (Lauzon Rd.)  once again and hope to see you there.  The atmosphere is great, the bartenders are friendly, the crowd has fun and loves to dance the night away!

Can't wait to see you,  Carole and the Guys                             PS - For those who visit the website regularly, a big thank-you for your interest and support.  Thanks too for your comments in our GuestBook.  ....  And one more parting thought ... please, don't worry, there won't be a "Christmas in July".                            PSS - Girls, you know who you are.  I'm still waiting for discs with pics of your celebrations.  Remember the birthday's @ 255 and K of C this Feb. and March. Our Photo Gallery awaits you!

Did you know ... that disc never arrived.  What were they waiting for ... Christmas?  It's almost here for goodness sake!  Maybe I'll tag some facebook shots ... Hmmm.    This post was added Nov/07 - Carole

     FALL/WINTER 2006

Well a couple of days turned into more than a few weeks.  I must admit I hit a wall for something interesting to write about.  Then finally, stuff happened.  Exciting, happy worthwhile stuff to share.   Please, read on.

First off, here's one of many things we're thankful for in writing this newsletter ...  'Thanks'  again from all of us for your kind support this year.  Especially coming out of our summer siesta.  Our welcome back into our steady fall schedule (Nov. @ KofC) couldn't have been better.  It was nice to see familiar faces, old friends and get back into playing weekly.

Right now we're celebrating the upcoming Christmas season at the RCL #143.  We've been fortunate to be playing while the legion has hosted some corporate Christmas parties; Value Village, A&P, the Red Cross & Gold Wing Bike Club to name a few.  The most memorable was last Saturday when Santa came by for a visit.  Who knew he road a Harley!  If you were there, you were part of the excitement when just a couple of songs into our opening set, both sets of double doors opened and there he was, driving his bike right into the club and onto the dance floor!  He stayed for a few pictures and secret Santa wishes, then drove out of sight!  And 'oh, what a night' it was ... 'there was dancin' and singin', and movin' to the groovin' ....  (We found out later on, that Santa was celebrating with his friends from the North Wall Bike club.)

'Thanks' to all for your kind comments about the band and to those celebrating birthdays with us too.  Hope you had fun.  Perhaps you'll see your picture on our special events page?  Take a look before you leave, won't you?

Here's a heart warming story for you ... John, our drummer, recently adopted a beautiful herding sheppard mix from our local Humane Society.  He's turning out to be a great pet too!  He playfully fetches, is house trained and has a wonderful personality.  How great that John could give a loving home and rescue this lovely dog from an uncertain future.  Maybe you'll see Riley on the cover of the next Pet Idol Calendar for 2008!  He sure is a cutie!

Did you know ... The Humane Society takes in over 6,500 animals each year.  You too can help by spaying and neutering your own pets and suggesting a shelter animal to people you know who are looking for a new pet.  Animals currently available can be viewed at http://www.windsorhumane.org/ or by visiting the shelter on Provincial Rd.  Thanks for your input Lynn for a worthwhile cause.)   In January, we'll be playing at the Windsor Sportmen's Club on Dougall Ave.  This is our first time in this room.  The band will play from 8PM til midnight, so if you're out and about,  please, drop-in, we'd be very grateful to you for your support.

As I conclude this, our last newsletter of the year, I just want to say how this website has been such a great way to stay in touch with you.  'Thanks' for making it such a success by visiting, posting comments, and of course spending time with us.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year!   The TRIXX Band

Please comeback soon

     SUMMER 2006

Ah, the sounds of summer, fireworks, festivals, music and more!  There's so much to do.  Perhaps we'll see you by the riverfront (Epicure) or out and about.

And just incase you've seen me recently, I'm ok!  My arm is in a sling because of a little mishap I had while biking.  I'll still be singing July 7th and 8th with the Chapter Three Band @ the RCL #143.  This will be the first time in years that this legion has hired bands during the summer months.   Personally, I think it's a great idea and I look forward to singing this weekend.

You might have noticed, J.W.'s been busy booking the TRIXX Band clear into next year!   Lots of dates in Windsor for 2007.   See our AT A GLANCE  page for new postings.

In the meantime, we hope that you're enjoying yourself.  Have fun, stay well, travel safely!  (And most of all, if you're out riding ... "stay on the bike!")

See you soon, Carole, Don and John x 2

     April 2006

Well, it turns out the $2 Cover at the Legion Branch #255 didn't keep you from coming out afterall.  It was great to see you and wonderful to be back playing and celebrating St. Patty's Day and all the birthdays this month.  With a fullhouse every night and all the energy on the dancefloor, the month just flew by!   New pictures are posted on our Special Events page (birthdays & holidays)  and Photo Gallery.  Please take a moment to browse won't you?  For those who are featured, it's a great time to recapture the fun!

Thanks for sharing your time with us again and again.  Being with you, celebrating and enjoying life is "Music to our Ears!"

See ya soon!   *haPpY Jelly Beans!  Carole and the Guys   PS.  I did walk.  A few times infact!

     March 2006

Hi!  We missed you!  As much as we miss playing, the time off was great.  Well, it worked out well for me anyway.  I was busy redecorating a couple of rooms (a job I can call done and cross off my list of  'things to do').  I was also able to help out my family when they needed me.  That's always a good feeling.

As for the band, we're ready to (rock, pop, groove, twang and) roll!  This gig couldn't be any better.  I just love it.  I could actually walk there!  (I might have said that before.)  We'll be at the Legion Branch #255 for  a month.  Don't be surprised if you feel a little lighter entering the Legion.  They started charging a $2 Cover on the weekends recently.   If you're reading this before you go out, we're glad that you heard about it here first.  Thank goodness the drinks are cheap.  Hope that makes up for it and that you'll still come out and spend some time with us.

See ya soon! Carole and the Guys

     JANUARY 2006

Hey!  Welcome back!   Hope you all had a nice holiday season and that you had a special Christmas wish come true for you!  Personally, I was wishing for a "White Christmas" and just loved that wonderful snowfall a couple of weeks leading into holiday season.  It's was so uplifting with a storybook quality to experience that snowfall.  I remember it well, it was a Thursday and snowed right into the early evening.  The snow was wet and heavy.  It wasn't too cold, infact just right with big dewy flakes falling to the ground!  After shoveliing, it was time to just be a kid again and start building a snowman!  I started rolling and parked the first round bundle near the house and with my husband's help, we put the finishing touches on this big guy!      See Reggie (our snowman) my husband Tony and our dog Molly below!

On another note, we've started this New Year with a few new songs to play for you.  We're looking forward to taking more pictures, celebrating all things special in our lives and sharing the good times with you!"   Remember to visit our new Photo Gallery page for a glimpse at our last celebration.

See you soon, Carole and the Guys

     NOVEMBER 2005

Howdy and welcome back!   We had a such a good time celebrating Hallowe'en!  Did we tell you how great you looked?  "You looked marvelous!"  The costumes were fantastic.  The event was judged by K of C members.  (JW was there to lend a hand in the event of a tie.)  The band favourites were the Warrior (his makeup was just incredible) and then there was the Fat Ass Plumber!  Oh my!   Eventually the _______won!  (Keep reading, won't you?)      Once the cards were shuffled, the house was rockin'!

We recently celebrated our friend Susie's birthday in A'burg.  Little did we know that the entertainment was already provided.  (And it wasn't the band!)  You see Larry was celebrating too.  He had just graduated from a Detroit area University and was out celebrating with his family and friends.  You know what they say ...,"A picture paints a thousand words!"

Well ... to see the outcome of the these celebrations, you'll have to visit our new Photo Gallery page.

See you soon, Carole and the Guys

Did You Know ... that that was John Labadie under all that makeup?  And did you know that Don has a pet spider?

     SEPTEMBER 2005

Outdoor patio season isn't over yet.  Come kick off our 10 week fall schedule with us at Duffy's on the 23rd of September.  A perfect night out, good food, nice view by the water and new tunes on the TRIXX songlist.

Speaking of fall, have you considered what you'll be wearing for Hallowe'en?  We were thinking of dressing as the Flinestones ...  or maybe we could go as the Incredilbles (it's perfect, middle-aged super heroes!)  Just thinking about it makes me chuckle!

"Did You Know?" (to be updated this later this week)

     SUMMER 2005

And oh what a summer it is!  If you enjoy boating on the water or swimming in a back yard pool, this summer has been fantastic so far.   Just enough rain for those who want it and more sun and great weather for outdoorsy folk who long for it!

A follow up to "Did You Know?"   Carole's Exclusively Women's Dragon Dames (International Dragon Boat Team - Racing for a Cure) were undefeated in the first two heats of the day during the corporate races on July 17th.  Twice they were aligned against a men's rowing team and twice pulled through with a win!  The Dragon Dames were included in the last 4 races of the day (which we've since heard is very honourable) only to lose out for any awards in the final race.  A record crowd was on hand including alot of friends of the TRIXX BAND and I can't thank you enough for your support!  It was stifling hot the day of the event but oh so cool that you could attend!  Thanks again.

During our time off, we did manage to get together to learn a couple of new songs. We can't wait to be playing them for you!  And when we get back... don't you think it would be a good time to update our Photo Gallery?  By the way, You Look Marvelous!

Hurray for Summer - See ya in a couple of weeks, Carole and the BAND

     APRIL 2005

Hey there... Glad you're with us again online  We've got some good news too!  Well be back playing live soon.  Hurray!  Just when you thought we had disappeared until September.  April Fools!

Right now we're booking dates for the summer months.  That's a switch for the TRIXX Band as we usually take the summers off.  It will be a welcome change for all of us especially having the chance to entertain family and friends who may come to visit.  With any luck, we'll be booked at a couple of  waterfront venues!  Be sure to check our Calendar page for updates.

Thanks to all our friends and family who came out to see us in March at the Legion #143.  We had an especially good month there.  The dance floor was packed and it was great to feel all that energy in front of the band.

We're looking forward to seeing you soon! Til then - Take care, The TRIXX Band

Did You Know ... that Carole along with some of her gym pals are training to  compete in the International "Dragon Boats for the Cure" (Breast Cancer)?    They'll be on a  corporate boat for Exclusively Women's Gym.  The races will be held on  the waterfront at Sandpoint Beach on the 16th & 17th of July.  Comon down and offer your cheer and support  for all of the teams on these spectacular boats!

     FEBRUARY 2005

Hard to believe that the month is almost over.  Playing at the Moose has been a welcome change of pace.  Not only are the hours earlier but we also had the pleasure of playing a matinee (fundraiser) on the 13th.  Our first night in on the 5th of February had us playing to a full house.  A retirement party and three birthday celebrations including a milestone 50th kept the place hoppin' all night long!   The following weekend the Band played while the TLC Animal Aid group held a fundraising dinner.  What was especially nice was to have our families (kids too) and friends come out and enjoy a great meal, help toward a good cause and listen to us play.  Many said it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and with a full house to help their organization we offer our congratulations to the TLC Animal Aid committee for a well planned event.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we really enjoyed the matinee and wouldn't mind doing that again.  It didn't really feel like a Sunday at all.

Once again friends, it's so nice to see you out!  You've really made this a great gig, especially last Saturday night!  It went by too fast!  Come out again soon, won't you and we'll pick up where we left off.

In the meantime, stay tuned for our March Newsletter and some new music too!  Remember to check the Photo Gallery for updates and thanks for visiting us.

See you again soon!

Did You Know ... that John W.'s sister Lois used to sing in a version of the TRIXX Band?
